2015: the year of dreaming BIG

Big goals require big commitments. Big goals require big sacrifice. Big goals require big risks. Big risks bring big rewards.

I've seen (and used) these phrases many times and I strongly agree with them all.

My dream scares the crap out of me.

After 2014 left me hungry for more, I decided to commit to something big. Something that I would only be able to achieve if I fully committed myself to the process.

Dream: qualify for the 2016 Olympic Trials Marathon
Date: April 24, 2015
Steps: follow "What it takes"
Action: checking off each step on the "What it takes" list

2015 is the year of big goals. I wasn't sure I wanted to necessarily reveal my goals to the world (aka the people who read this), but then I realized that I needed to share my goals. Not because I think it'd be inspirational or motivating. Not because I want people to cheer for me. Not because I need people to hold me accountable. But rather because of the commitment it forces me to make.

Done. Done. In progress.

I made a list of "What it Takes" so that I am constantly reminding myself of the dedication needed to achieve my lofty 2015 goals. This list is hung in my bathroom cabinet, so I see it in the morning when I am getting ready for the day and at night when I am getting ready for bed. I am also planning on having it printed and displayed at school so that I am holding myself accountable at school as well (often where the eating temptations occur).

My list.

One of the quotes I chose to hang up is by a guy named Bob Proctor. I have heard versions of this quote before, but googled his name as I wanted to see that it was from someone credible? reliable? something. Turns out, he is a "master thinker" and has helped many people find success in their professions. I figured this quote would be appropriate as I am looking for success in my part-time profession.

Dream big. Work hard. Stay focused. And surround yourself with good people. Here's to an exciting and scary journey in 2015!

HECK YEAH.

Good luck in 2015 and I hope you are doing the Snow Fun Run. If you are, I am looking forward to your recap. I miss that race tremendously.

These may be big goals but they are not out of your league. You can do this. I think it's awesome how hard you are working to get there. But I think you are being too hard on yourself about eating. Food will fuel those goals for you. If you are snacking during the day you may need to fit another meal in there. If seen pictures of your epic ironman adventures lately and you looking amazingly fit...like ou could bust out a 2:42 any second. I'm not sure why you are so concerned about it. Don't spend energy worrying so much about over eating, just make sure you are getting enough fuel for your running and training. You've got enough on your plate already.

I know these are big goals but they are not unexpected. You've done big things lately and you can do this. Good luck!

Thanks Eddie Gaul! Will definitely post a recap soon...it wasn't as snowy as last year but it was pretty slick still!!

Thank you so much Meggan!! I think you're right... I just need to cut the "mindless snacking" I do, like when I'm not actually hungry, that's my big one since then it disrupts what I should be eating for dinner/lunch :) Will definitely be working on better eating habits to get the best fuel into my body :)
